Well welcome to another update as the end of April is nearing.

April saw more work to the skinks, the start of a death army with some zombies, the start of the Arcane Ruins and I have kept chipping away at the ogres.

Work has been very busy so sadly not much time for gaming.

Some of the Zombies !!

Hi so whats been happening in March 2016 ?

Well one of my sons has re-expressed his interest in his lizard army, I want a Lizard, (Seraphon) army as well so a few bids later on ebay saw a nice little army come my way all sealed in the boxes

1x box Skink
1x box Temple Guard
1x box tyrannasarus
1 x stegadon

Need a priest and a few more skinks but getting there for less than £60 with postage I have made a good start.

Whilst waiting for the ebay items to arrive i raided the bits box as i am sure i had some lizard parts to see if we could make up anything in the meantime! 2 skinks popped out so we put theae together and did a test paint up.
The ebay items arrived so the skinks have been built and are in various stages of painting, finding batch painting useful here as with any small repetitive models, you can make good progress to 20+ models in less than an hour.

The Ogre Kingdoms as usual got a bit nearer with another leadbelcher some mournfang, work to the thundertusk and some maneaters assembly and painting.

I completed the Araby Maneater, part way through I asked my wife what she thought his gut plate was she said a turkish hat pumpkin, so that explains that in the photo below. Still need to do his gnoblar and stick it on, Gnoblars are quick to do but I dont like painting them, thats another batch paint for another day.

Thanks for reading all the best !

Welcome to the war corner #7, So what has been happening in
February 16?.

Well X-Wing has made a big apperance and taken a fair amount of my time having played 4 games, painted up a space board and collected the 2 core box sets and 2 scum ships …- I refer to the voices in my head post to my amusement, 2 of my callings prior to xmas 15 have made an apperance Malifaux then X-Wing.

In terms of painting I have been chipping away at Malifaux miniatures, see Angel Eyes Miniature completed, construction of the remainder of the Malifaux 2e starter box set ready for painting, constructed and started painting the Essence of Power for Rasputina and a few WHFB/AoS Ogre Kingdom leadbealchers, some Mournfang cavalry and continuing on the Thundertusk and Maneater conversions all slowly but surely.

I have also discovered the joy of audiobooks for long journeys to work, I can recommend audiobooks as it saves time in reading books that can be spent on other things, so what have I been listening to ?

WH40k – Horus Heresy and associated follow on story’s the problem is I now have the voices saying build start heresy era stuff collect demons for AoS and 40k, build space wolves and chaos marines. The cycle begins again I suppose.

Some photos of Februarys work

Star Wars Board – Also painted plain sand brown on reverse side to suit my games of AoS particularly the Desert Rats – and Malifaux the other 4×4 will be white to suit snow based miniatures such as my Ogres and eventual Kislev Army and placed side by side will suit all my different types of miniatures.

Malifaux Angel Eyes

Caught up on all of the walking dead series at the same time which makes me want to buy Zombies.

May upload better photos later

Thanks for reading

Hi Welcome to The War Corner #6

A Belated Happy New year and thanks for reading !

So without further ado this is the after christmas and new year entry.

What did Old St Nick bring and what did I achieve

Well Father Christmas via war wife bought some more malifaux models so I now have a little Neverborn crew as well as arcanist crew deveolping.

Having some extra time but not as much as I would like I assembled and painted up the Arcanist crew I started at the begining of December.
With Malifaux I really wanted to experiment with unique bases for each models individual setting.

The Fire bases for the Fire Gamins came out quite well and is simply, sculpted liquid nails adhesive allowed to dry and painted

Please see Photos of the Arcanists which I have enjoyed painting and although not my best work they look ok on the table

I also started on the Neverborn crew, First was Teddy, which my daughter calls scary bear
Very simple to paint about 2 evenings work in with some other bits.

Next was the Poltergeist, I wanted the poltergeist to look really powerful rather than just throwing a few bits around a room which would be hard to do with a miniature anyway.
So I decided that my Neverborn crew would be mounted on floorboards and haunting a bedroom near you !

And that the Poltergeist would be throwing the floor boards from around him.
This was achived with a few scraps of balsa wood.
Again photos below.

As per Photos and Lastly for this TWC’s Mailfaux section.

Rasputina, the Hoarcat pride and Ice gamins complete,
Wendingo very near just finishing work.
The next job will be the assembly of the rest of the Neverborn, Including some Terror tots to be complete soon.

Work also continued to the remaining Ogres and the Beastclaw Avalance. Good news is during a xmas tidy up I found the missing sprues to the Thundertusk in a really useful box. “Useful being the word” and proceeded to mount the rear rope and riders.

For the second Thundertusk rider as TWC#5, I elected for him to be eating a rat, with a bit of sculpting and a Skaven rat, the ogre is now having a battle snack.

The Thundertusk was an ebay find and in a poor state with lots of the minor bits missing, the idea always was to do the Shop purchased Stonehorn, and then use the bits left to finish the Thundertusk. (2 for less than price of 2!)

The Thundertusk has 2 riders and during mounting I noticed that the front rider who already had the bridal arm fitted was siting far to high for the bridal straps to fit to the Thundertusks head, I couldnt remember if the rider sitting high was by my design or part of the original ebay problem, so I busted out the greenstuff and extended the Bridal straps. At the end of the day I am very Happy how the thundertusk turned out as he cost me about £8 from ebay and with a bit of work and parts from the Stonehorn has turned out ok.

I also carried out base coating and wash work to the Mourfang Cavalry

All in all a decent amount of work produced over Christmas without sacrificing family time.
Cant wait to put the Malifaux crew in action, over at a new Club I shall be frequenting.

Welcome to the war corner

I am currently working on finishing the Ogre Kingdoms army and the Beastclaw Avalance, more on that later, below is a picture of my Razorspine Rattler for Malifaux, a bit quick and dirty but speaking to my usual wargame buddy he also has a malifaux crew so the pressure is on to field my crew.

More from Malifaux latter as I am now building my December Children.

Update. Finished Ice Golem

I am finding malifaux crews easy to paint up to a reasonable tabletop standard quickly, The Golem is about 4 hours including assembly.

End of the week of 2nd week in November 2015 – I had a well spent week sorting and moving stuff about, and didnt realise how much stuff I have, I can see the corner there and there was actually a desk under that mountain !! I already feel re-inspired to recommence works next week, hopefully I get some time next week as most of the xmas shopping is done – I think !?!?! .. Warwife may have other ideas.

Bonfire night is over and so is Halloween… with these joyful family distractions occasions out of the way watch the war corner.

(Dont get me wrong balance is important between realife and Hobby life.)

So what will be coming out of the corner over the next week ?.

I have set up on the desk ready an amount of models to complete and have forsaken all other projects
These comprise of

41 Gnoblars… yawn…
A Thundertusk.. yay…
and 6 more mournfang making a total of 8….oooh.
Thus the Beastclaw Avalanche on way to a gaming table soon.

Well as it goes we are in the first week of November 15 and I did bugger all in terms of actual production for the hobby last week.

Sure I procured minis, paint, magazines and books, browsed the net, dribbled over lizardmen, Tau, Necrons and Malifaux.

My excuses felt ill. Tooooo busy at work which made me feel like only resting. A visit to the Circus. Pumpkin picking and carving then Halloween, so its been busy and family fun but not in terms of the hobby.

This weeks vow, use the really useful plastic boxes and tidy the hobby area its a mess and puts me off bothering to do any hobby work as it gets frustrating and time consuming to find things
It has become cluttered with this weeks new aquisitions such as magazines, minis and paint and the usual unfinished projects and ill keep thats – it will come in useful.
The wife has no issue with the hobby apart from my polystyrene and pringles tube hoarding special ability, and lately I have begun to suffer from that illness again… so time to replace it with the other OCD tidy up…and get the hobby back….I Need rules if inly to break them.

My new mantras

1: “Keep your work area tidy” = More Efficient use of hobby time. And prevents hobby block

2: Finish the existing projects before moving onto the next (pfffttt I will never achieve that one) See Mantra #1

3: Hoard less the packaging and other I will keep thats – junk is always available ! And only collect for a project see Mantra #2

4: Get a more suitable shed/garage/room/outbuilding suitable for my needs – remember mantra #1, 2 and 3 or will lead to an even bigger space requirement.

5: Get it finished !!!

Welcome to my post for The War Corner essentially a post of what am I working on currently.

This Post is to force me to get more stuff done. It is the end of the 3rd week in October 2015. And I want to clear the projects below as quickly as possible to move on to other projects.

Ogre Kingdoms

Boosting my Ogre Kingdoms force to include a beastclaw avalanche

The Stonehorn is already complete although I may add some bits and pieces to it later.

In the corner or on the desk is a thundertusk.

2 Mounfang undercoated with some base coating done.

2 mournfang under assembly to boost my existing force of 4 to be 2 x4 units for the beastclaw avalance.
“Pondering wheather to have 2 full mourfang commands and 1 troop in each or go for 1 command in 1 only and have the other 4 as straight ogres”.
I think the later will work just as well in AOS and better in 8th (which is how I am still constructing my armies, so therefore compatible with both).

The giant army has been put aside somewhat to complete the Ogre Kingdoms Avalanche
But the Ogre Giant is part assembled. Undercoated and flesh based.

The chaos giant is part assembled with conversion work going ahead.

Working on a Liberator, lord celestant, lord of Khorne, Khorgorath and bloodbound troops.

Usual Tale of a Wargamer too much on That I need to finish before moving onto other projects.

After all there is the remainder of my Maneaters, Gnoblars a few ironguts and leadbelchers to complete.
The Kislev force to get of the ground.
And continued work to The Elves. And  The Skaven.

Also considering 3 other forces Vampire Counts, Lizardmen and the Vampire counts.

Super Dungeon Explore to finish painting and Malifaux to get into.
